Pennsylvania is getting millions from the Inflation Reduction Act to cut emissions and cap leaking wells

Gov. Josh Shapiro announced Wednesday that his administration received $44,457,220 through the Inflation Reduction Act for projects aimed at reducing methane emissions throughout Pennsylvania over the next five years.

The state Department of Environmental Protection will use the funds to help operators “plug hundreds of low-producing oil and gas wells with significant methane emissions,” the governor said in a release.
