Michigan gets $196M grant from feds for River Raisin Bridge, I-75 project in Monroe Co.

By Melissa Nann Burke

Federal officials have awarded $196 million in grant funds to the Michigan Department of Transportation toward a project that will replace the aging River Raisin Bridge and upgrade I-75 in Monroe County to improve safety and access to downtown Monroe.

The grant will expedite the timeline for the $352 million project by about two years, allowing preliminary work to start in 2028 and construction expected to be completed in 2032, MDOT spokesman Jeff Cranson said.
