Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the next president on Monday and seemingly took herself out of potential consideration to be Harris' running mate, as Democratic leaders focused on uniting the party for November.

Asked Monday morning if she was interested in being vice president, Whitmer said: "I am not leaving Michigan. I am proud to be the governor of Michigan. I have been consistent. I know everyone is always suspicious and asking this question over and over again ... I am not going anywhere."
