U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown on Thursday joined a group of his Democratic colleagues in a letter that urges 13 non-unionized automakers not to block efforts by the United Auto Workers union to organize at their manufacturing plants.

The legislators’ effort follows resistance to an organization drive the union announced in November covering nearly 150,000 autoworkers across thirteen automakers: BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Lucid, Mazda, Mercedes, Nissan, Rivian, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
