Pennsylvania Considers Ban on Employer Credit Checks for Job Applicants

The Pennsylvania House Labor and Industry Committee has advanced House Bill 2207, which aims to prohibit employers from accessing job applicants’ credit scores, with exceptions for finance-related positions and those mandated by federal or local law.

Rep. Jason Dawkins, the Committee Chairman, highlighted the lack of evidence linking credit history to job performance and the historical discrimination associated with credit reports.
